Sleep Apnea in Washington, D.C.

People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes hundreds of times. This means the brain and the rest of the body may not get enough oxygen. Symptoms include (can we make bullet list here) waking up with a very sore dry throat, loud snoring, occasional walking up with chocking or gasping sensation, sleepiness or lack of energy during the day. morning headaches, restless sleep, forgetfulness, mood changes, and a decreased interest in set, recurrent awakenings or insomnia.

If left untreated, sleep apnea can result in a growing number of health problems, including high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, irregular heart beats, heart attacks, diabetes, depression, worsening of ADHD and headaches. In addition sleep apnea may be responsible for poor performance in everyday activities, such as at work/school, motor vehicle crashes, and academic underachievement in adolescents.

We are a member of Sleep Group Solutions Inc (SGS). A privately held dental & medical sleep medicine education, instrumentation, and in-office training company based in Hollywood, FL. We Offer home Embletta X100 Sleep study testing equipment for our patients to take with them and do the study comfortably at home. A board certified sleep physician will diagnose the results. SGS works directly with hundreds of sleep physicians across the county. This service enables patients to enter treatment earlier than if they had to wait to be sent for a sleep study in a sleep lab. At the office, the eccovision Acoustic Pharyngometry & Rhinometry system are used to identify narrow, obstructed, and collapsible airways, nasal airway size and the proper position of the mandible for oral appliance therapy. The test is routinely reimbursed by private insurance carriers. The test are noninvasive and quick.

If it is determined that you are a candidate, we will begin the fabrication of a comfortable oral appliance for you to wear at night. SGS clients are using the latest technology available while being part of the largest network of dentists and physicians using the same hardware and software. Our home sleep testing program has opened the door for increased diagnoses resulting in more patients receiving the care they need.
